About New Song Community Church |
Our History New Song Community Church (NSCC) has a rich Columbus history. Many of the founding members went to college together at Ohio State University and found themselves as young working singles and couples living on the far east side and fellowshipping in community-based Bible studies. It is those beginning roots of being a close, young group of committed, Christ followers that has so well anchored and given our church this sense of close fellowship, compassion and perpetual youthfulness. Our Beliefs & Affiliations New Song is in fellowship with Great Commission Churches and our Core Values and Statement of Faith are identical. Click the links to learn more. Our Pastor and Leadership Teams New Song identifies pastors, elders and deacons from within the church through the guidelines found in the New Testament of the Bible, primarily 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Additional training and ongoing coaching is provided through Great Commission resources and conferences. Our goal is to raise up multiple, qualified and trained men to work as a plurality of elders over the church. Currently we have one elder who is the staffed pastor. Chris Phillips, Pastor Chris and Marie helped start the church in 1988. He was commissioned by GCC as a minister in June of 1997 and has served as the full time pastor since January of 2001. To Chris and his family, New Song is definitely home in every way. He spends most of his days overseeing the everyday functions of the church, ministries, small groups and leadership develpment.
